180g (about 6 oz) pasta (fettuccine, linguine, or spaghetti)

1 tbsp gochujang (Korean red chili paste)

2 tbsp heavy cream (or half-and-half)

1 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tsp minced garlic

1/2 small onion (finely chopped)

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tsp sugar

2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for garnish)

Salt and pepper to taste

Chopped scallions or parsley for garnish

Optional: sliced mushrooms, bacon, shrimp, or tofu
Instructions
1. Cook the pasta
Boil pasta in salted water according to package instructions. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water, then drain.2. Make the creamy gochujang sauce
In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and onion, sauté until fragrant and soft.Add gochujang, soy sauce, and sugar. Stir for about 1 minute. Then pour in the heavy cream and mix until smooth and slightly thickened.
3. Combine pasta and sauce
Add the cooked pasta to the pan. Toss to coat evenly in the sauce. Add reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the texture.Stir in Parmesan cheese and mix until melted and creamy.
4. Serve and garnish
Plate the pasta and top with extra Parmesan, chopped scallions, or parsley. Add black pepper to taste.This dish pairs well with a crisp salad or iced barley tea if you want to keep the Korean fusion theme going.
