Today, I brought you the recipe for omurice, japanese omelette rice.


This delicious fried rice topped with a fluffy egg blanket and served with sauce is a hearty meal perfect for any time.


You can make it even tastier by using a slightly different method than the commonly known omelette rice, omurice recipe.

Ingredients

(for 1 serving)

(Measurements: tablespoon for rice, paper cup)

For Fried Rice

  • Green onion: 1 stalk
  • Bacon: 2 strips
  • Onion: 1/4 piece
  • Carrot: a little
  • Cooking oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Rice: 1 bowl
  • Ketchup: 1 tablespoon
  • Oyster sauce: 1 tablespoon

For Egg Blanket

  • Cooking tools: strainer
  • Eggs: 3
  • Salt: a pinch
  • Cooking oil: 1 tablespoon

For Omelette Rice Sauce

  • Butter: 1 tablespoon
  • Flour: 1 tablespoon
  • Water: 1 cup (180ml, paper cup)
  • Ketchup: 2 tablespoons
  • Worcestershire sauce: 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar: 1 tablespoon
  • Dark soy sauce: 1 tablespoon

For Side

  • Sausage: 1 piece


Fried Rice & Egg Blanket Recipe

  1. Cut the green onion in half and chop it finely.

  2. Chop 2 strips of bacon into small pieces.

  3. Chop 1/4 of an onion into small pieces.

  4. Chop a little carrot into small pieces.

  5. Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan, then add the chopped green onion and bacon, frying until the bacon is crispy.

  6. Add the chopped onion and carrot, and stir-fry until the carrot is cooked.

  7. Add 1 bowl of rice and stir-fry until fluffy.

  8. Add 1 tablespoon of ketchup and 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, mixing well to complete the fried rice.

9. Press the fried rice into a bowl, then invert it onto a plate to shape it. 10. Crack 3 eggs into a strainer to separate the egg whites and create a smooth mixture, then beat it well with chopsticks.

  • The key to the omelette rice is a soft and tender texture, so straining makes it even smoother.

  1. Add a pinch of salt to the beaten eggs and stir again.

  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a pan, coating it well, then pour in the egg mixture and cook until 80% done over low heat.

  • Turn off the heat before the top is fully cooked.

  1. Place the cooked egg blanket over the fried rice.

  2. Grill 1 sausage until golden brown to serve alongside the omelette rice.


Omelette Rice Sauce Recipe

  1. In a pan, combine 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 tablespoon of flour over low heat, stirring until it turns a light brown color to create a roux.

  2. Add the following ingredients and mix well, then bring to a slight boil

    • 1 cup of water (180ml, paper cup)
    • 2 tablespoons of ketchup
    • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tablespoon of sugar
    • 1 tablespoon of dark soy sauce

  3. Pour the sauce over the egg, and your delicious omelette rice, omurice is ready to serve!
