Korean Spicy stir-fried pork, Jeyuk Bokkeum recipe

Today, I want to share a popular dish that is essential on a Korean table – Spicy Stir-Fried Pork (Jeyuk Bokkeum) with broth.

While some people enjoy dry stir-fried pork(Jeyuk Bokkeum) with a smoky flavor, others prefer it with a delicious broth that is perfect for mixing with rice.

  • Beef seasoning (Dasida): 1/2 tablespoon

Cooking Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine 400g of pork for bulgogi, 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, and 1 tablespoon of cooking wine. Mix well and marinate for a while.

  2. Slice a small carrot into thin strips.

  3. Thinly slice 1/2 of an onion.

  4. Cut the green onion diagonally into pieces.

  5. Thinly slice the two Cheongyang peppers.

  6. Pour 3 tablespoons of cooking oil into a pan. Add 1/2 tablespoon of doenjang and 2 tablespoons of jin ganjang. Mix well and stir-fry on low heat like deep-frying.

    • Lightly frying the soy sauce and doenjang in oil enhances the umami flavor.

  7. Add the marinated pork and the sliced carrot. Stir-fry on medium heat until the pork is fully cooked.

  8. Once the pork is cooked, grate 1 whole onion using a grater or blender and add it to the pan.

  9. Add the following ingredients to the pan and mix well while continuing to stir-fry over medium heat:

    • 2 tablespoons of red pepper powder
    • 2 tablespoons of sugar
    • 1 tablespoon of gochujang
    • 1/2 tablespoon of pepper

  10. Add the sliced 1/2 onion, green onion, and the two hot chilly peppers. Pour in 1 cup of water (about 180ml) and boil on high heat until the vegetables are cooked.

  11. Finally, add a little sesame seeds, 1/2 tablespoon of sesame oil, and 1/2 tablespoon of beef seasoning and mix well to finish.
