Korean Spicy stir-fried pork, Jeyuk Bokkeum recipe |
Today, I want to share a popular dish that is essential on a Korean table – Spicy Stir-Fried Pork (Jeyuk Bokkeum) with broth.
While some people enjoy dry stir-fried pork(Jeyuk Bokkeum) with a smoky flavor, others prefer it with a delicious broth that is perfect for mixing with rice.
Ingredients
(for 2 servings)
(Measurements: tablespoon and paper cup) Cooking tools: Grater or blender needed
Pork thigh (tender) meat: 400g
Minced garlic: 1 tablespoon
Cooking wine: 1 tablespoon
Carrot: a little
Onion: 1 whole + 1/2
Green onion: 1 stalk
Cheongyang pepper: 2 peppers
Cooking oil: 3 tablespoons
Doenjang (fermented soybean paste): 1/2 tablespoon
Jin ganjang (dark soy sauce): 2 tablespoons
Gojujang (red chili paste): 1 tablespoon
Red pepper powder: 2 tablespoons
Sugar: 2 tablespoons
Pepper: 1/2 tablespoon
Water: 1 cup (about 180ml)
Sesame seeds: a little
Sesame oil: 1/2 tablespoon
Beef seasoning (Dasida): 1/2 tablespoon
Cooking Instructions
In a bowl, combine 400g of pork for bulgogi, 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, and 1 tablespoon of cooking wine. Mix well and marinate for a while.
Slice a small carrot into thin strips.
Thinly slice 1/2 of an onion.
Cut the green onion diagonally into pieces.
Thinly slice the two Cheongyang peppers.
Pour 3 tablespoons of cooking oil into a pan. Add 1/2 tablespoon of doenjang and 2 tablespoons of jin ganjang. Mix well and stir-fry on low heat like deep-frying.

Add the marinated pork and the sliced carrot. Stir-fry on medium heat until the pork is fully cooked.
Once the pork is cooked, grate 1 whole onion using a grater or blender and add it to the pan.
Add the following ingredients to the pan and mix well while continuing to stir-fry over medium heat:
- 2 tablespoons of red pepper powder
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of gochujang
- 1/2 tablespoon of pepper
- 2 tablespoons of red pepper powder
Add the sliced 1/2 onion, green onion, and the two hot chilly peppers. Pour in 1 cup of water (about 180ml) and boil on high heat until the vegetables are cooked.
Finally, add a little sesame seeds, 1/2 tablespoon of sesame oil, and 1/2 tablespoon of beef seasoning and mix well to finish.
