Ingredients

- Tteokbokki rice cakes: 200g
- Fish cake: 3 pieces
- Water: 4 cups (700ml, paper cup measurement)
- Beef broth powder: 1.5 tablespoons
- Red pepper powder: 3 tablespoons
- Gochujang (Korean chili paste): 2 heaping tablespoons
- Sugar: 2 tablespoons
- Corn syrup: 3 tablespoons
- Dark soy sauce: 2 tablespoons
- Minced garlic: 1 tablespoon
- Boiled eggs: 2
- Green onion: 1
Cooking Instructions
In a pot, combine all the ingredients below and mix well:
- 4 cups of water (700ml)
- 1.5 tablespoons of beef broth powder
- 3 tablespoons of red pepper powder
- 2 heaping tablespoons of gochujang
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 3 tablespoons of corn syrup
- Corn syrup is essential for achieving the thick consistency of the sauce that is characteristic of street food tteokbokki, so do not substitute it with sugar.
- 2 tablespoons of dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
When the tteokbokki sauce starts to boil, add the soaked rice cakes (about 200g) and 3 pieces of fish cake cut into bite-sized pieces. Cook for 20 to 30 minutes.
Add any desired tteokbokki toppings, such as boiled eggs.
